David Isayevich Yochimowitz was born on the third of December 1917 in Irkutsk, Russia. It was the city where his parents had met. They came to this city almost at the same time about 1900. The Father's name was Itsko-Meyer Leiser, or Isay Lazarevich Yohimowitz. The Mother's name was Guenya Guershevna, or Anna Grigoriebna Celector. The Father of David Isayevich came from Germany, the Mother came from Ukraine. In 1929 the family moves to Novosibirsk. Various sketches, reports, reviews and articles written by David Yochimowitz were in press since he was a schoolboy.
In 1936 he finished the secondary school number 50 and was directed to the All-Union Communist Institute of Journalism.
Since 1938 and until the beginning of The Great Patriotic War David Yochimowitz had been an editor of the literary and dramatic broadcasting of the regional radio committee, the own correspondent of the national newspapers in Western Siberia. In June of 1941 he was called out to the ranks of the Red Communist Army and completed the military course of Tomsk Artillery School. Since the first months of 1942 he was in the front-line unit of the Western front taking up the post of the second in command in the combatant service of the Fifth Howitz Battery the 296th Lenin's and Kutuzov's Orders/Insignia of Lvov's Howitz Regiment, of the First Starokonstantinovsky Howitz Artillery Brigade with Orders of Red Colours and Bogdan Khmelnitski, the third Red Coloursand Suvorov's Orders Zhitomirski artillery division of General Headquarters' reserves. Personal weapon's number was 6341.
1943 June, the 15th - The lieutenant David Isayevich Yochimowitz's service in battle testimonial letter'
D.l.Yochimowit, being the second in command of the battery, took part in the battle of the village Pollini in February 1943 when three German tanks were destroyed, the fire of two machine-gunpoints was smothered and three stone houses where fascist submachine gunners were disposed were shattered. The battery repulsed three counter-attacks, which brought to the result that up to the company of the German submachine gunners and riflemen were annihilated.
On the 15th of June 1943 in the battles of the villages Aristovo and Policki with the German fascists he showed his worth as a specialist, brave and courageous warrior and a good friend. His battery was constantly under the heavy enemy's artillery fire. However, due to the skilful diking of both pieces of ordnance and guncrew it had battle
casualties neither in people nor in equipment and weapons. The military
target was fulfilled: three funk-holes, one tank and mortar battery of the
enemy were destroyed. The battery took part in the repulsing of the
several counter-attacks.
Besides, D.I.Yochimowitz takes an active part in the political life of the
regiment. Under his direction the collected stories entitled 'Straight on
the West' and 'devoted to the ordeals of the war years, which the
regiment had come through during the war.
Comrade Yochimowitz is disciplined and politically competent
commander.

D.I.Yochimowitz took part in the Battle of Kursk where was badly wounded. Thus, in 1944 he retires/gets his discharge. After that he worked in TASU and Soviet Information Bureau. Since that time D.I.Yochimowitz is the own correspondent of TASU in Novosibirsk and Tomsk regions. He graduated from the Teachers' Training University and got the higher education in the field of political economy. He was rewarded with the Red Star Order, Decoration and medals Tor the victory over Germany1, Tor the valorous service in the years of the Great Patriotic War', Tor the virgin land-reclamation' and others. He was confirmed to the rank of senior lieutenant, 'Honoured Worker of RSFSR culture1. D.I.Yochimowitz writes the sketches and feuilletons to the press, to such newspapers as 'Pravda', Tzvestiya', 'Literaly newspaper', 'Sibirskiye Ogni', to the satirical magazine 'Crocodile', etc. His feuilletons, comic short stories and sketches were in press. D.I.Yochimowitz was a member of Journalists' Union since 1957, and a member of the Writer's Union/League - since 1968.
He died in Novosibirsk on the 7th of May, 1990. D.I. Yochimovitz was buried on the 9th of May, the day when the Victory in the Great Patriotic War over the fascist invaders was celebrated.
